Organizational culture is one of the most important and differential factors when looking for and retaining talent in companies. This leads to the creation of measurements such as Merco Talent, which in the 2020 edition showed that Bancolombia, with 10,000 points; and Grupo Nutresa, with 9,946, continued to lead the ranking, which makes them the most attractive companies to work for.

Alpina, for its part, rose one place by obtaining 9,199 points, causing Ecopetrol to drop one square when it placed fourth with 9,165 points. These companies were followed by the EPM Group, which this year climbed two notches to be in fifth place with 9,104 points.

Bavaria did not present any movement this year, with respect to the 2019 ranking, so it continued in the sixth box obtaining 8,778 points; while one of the companies that fell the most in this year’s measurement within the top 10 was Sura, which went from being in fifth place during 2019 to seventh position in the recently published measurement.

Nestlé with 8,383 points and Cementos Argos with a score of 7,689 maintained their positions from the last measurement by continuing in eighth and ninth place, respectively. It should be noted that Cemargos also leads the measurement of the best cement companies to work with, taking a good advantage out of Cemex, which ranked 20th in the general measurement with 6,867 points.

The National University of Colombia was the great surprise of this year, since it entered the top 10 of Merco Talent with 7,674 points that allowed it to go from box 12, which was where it was last year, to 10 in the measurement 2020.

Catalina Londoño, director of Merco Colombia, stated that “in this measurement, workers are highlighting the value of ethical companies and those with corporate responsibility, having a growth of 5% compared to the values highlighted in the 2019 edition.”

Likewise, he explained that Merco also analyzes employee satisfaction in the various companies. In the companies that were rated as outstanding, an average rating of nine out of 10 was seen, and in the companies with an excellent rating, it was 9.4 out of 10, an important factor to face situations such as the one currently experienced worldwide, because “Audiences and collaborators are getting to know these facets and value them.”

Faced with this, José María San Segundo, CEO of Merco, highlighted during the presentation of the results that “the current crisis is affecting work methods, the identification of our collaborators and the values that they project on companies; the challenge is knowing how to align and capitalize on those expectations. ”

This year the measurement did not show a relevant change in the top 10 participants, but it did rank in the 100 most attractive companies to work for, as 15 new brands entered, among which are the Fundación Cardioinfantil, which ranked 23rd. .

These companies were followed by Comfama, which obtained the 40th place; Keralty / Sanitas Organization, which ranked 42nd; and Mercado Libre, with 5,413 points, ranked 55.

University students looking for companies that care about the environment

The measurement also revealed the most important aspects for employees in a company and what are the interests of future talent or young people who are looking for where to start their working lives.

Regarding this, Enrique Mañas, Merco’s technical director, stressed that these actors “take into account ethical factors such as equal opportunities or concern about the environmental impact when choosing companies to work for. Reputation is key to retain and attract talent ”.
