Apple’s new privacy rules are coming soon. Apple is ready to press the button

Since the release of iOS 14, Apple has said that it will add a feature that means that apps must ask users for permission if the apps want to track them. There was, to say the least, a bit of a fuss about this and especially Facebook has complained a lot in recent months. Apple seemed to need some ice in its stomach before launching the feature and app developers and ad networks needed some time to adapt, but now they are ready. Tim Cook said a few days ago that they are now ready and now the company has gone out and confirmed that this will come with iOS 14.5 which will come “within a few weeks”.

Asking for permission has been possible for apps for a while now, but with iOS 14.5 it becomes a compulsion to ask for permission. Apple has a system called IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) that is used by developers to simply recognize a device. They need to do this in order to be able to send personalized advertising, among other things. With iOS 14.5, app developers and advertisers can no longer use this feature unless they have been explicitly approved by the user.

Apple, on the other hand, does not have a direct opportunity to block other trackers, but they are likely to start cracking down on apps that have trackers in their apps but do not ask for permission.
