2 days after the government meeting with “Lukoil”, fuel prices are getting lower

The Russian company has lowered the price of gasoline below 3 BGN.

Two days after the government meeting with Lukoil, fuel in Bulgaria started to get cheaper and gasoline at the Russian company’s gas stations dropped below 3 BGN, which is the lowest price in 4 months.

On Thursday the president of “Lukoil” Vadim Vorobyov came to Bulgaria. He first met with President Rumen Radev and then with the provisional government. Measures to make fuel cheaper were discussed during talks, it was officially announced.

At the time, “24 Chasa” wrote that the government had asked “Lukoil” to keep fuel prices below 3 BGN. The company has had to seek reserves to cut costs due to the cheaper Russian oil it operates with.

Lukoil said he will do everything possible to maintain this price until the end of the year. However, in return, the Russian company demanded that the government’s previous decision to stop the export of fuels produced from Russian oil be reversed. Shortly before giving up power, the “Petkov” government decided to stop exporting Russian fuels from 5 December. The reason was that in this way the prices would decrease, because the quantities would remain in Bulgaria. However, Lukoil has indicated to the interim government that if there are no exports, the Burgas refinery will operate at low capacity and the company will not make a profit. And this meant that he would not be able to reduce prices for the internal market.

Apparently, the Russian company has started to respect its commitment, because already on Saturday in the stores of the chain the gasoline was already sold for 2.99 BGN, after which the day before it was 3.07 BGN, also the price of the diesel was reduced but by 7 to BGN 3.22

There have been no changes to the rest of the big chains over the weekend, but they are expected to start lowering prices today as well. According to oil industry experts, gasoline can keep its price below 3 BGN for a longer time, because its demand is currently down and there are surpluses.

For diesel, however, the situation is not so optimistic, because there is a strong demand, which increases with the approach of autumn and winter. For this reason, its price remains higher than that of gasoline. The difference between the two types of fuel has widened significantly and diesel is currently more than 20% more expensive. But surely its price will also fall, especially if the price of oil continues to fall.
