Which soy sulfur fertilization strategy is recommended for this year?

A producer asks Gustavo Ferraris for his recommendation for the soy campaign.

Question Paola: Gustavo, I have two lots that go to first class seeds in the central area. According to the soil analysis, they have a good level of phosphorus (over 20 ppm), so in theory it would be sufficient for the crop, especially given the climatic prospects. The problem is that they have low levels of sulfur (5.5 each and 8 ppm the other). What sulfur fertilization strategy (fertilizer and application time) do you recommend for this year of low yield expectations?

Response from Gustavo Ferraris: Paula, first of all I have to tell you that the S-sulfate analysis is not as reliable an indicator as Bray & Kurtz I’s phosphorus analysis. of agriculture, rotation and the history of fertilization with this element.

As for the fertilizers to use, one that also provides phosphorus (P) comes to mind. Perhaps in low concentration. It could be simple calcium superphosphate (SPS), doses from 80 to 100 kg / ha. In such a productive region, the extraction of P is permanent and in the medium term it appears to be the most limiting element. In the doses mentioned, SPS is generally tolerated by germinating seedlings, even if placed in the planting line.
