18-year-old Malick Yalcouyé’s success continues.

Now the teammates want a transfer record – at least! – when he is sold.

– You have to demand really damn good pay for him. Not Blåvitt paid, says Sebastian Ohlsson after 3–0 against BP.

  • IFK Göteborg defeated BP 3–0, thanks in part to a strong performance by 18-year-old talent Malick Yalcouyé.
  • Yalcouyé, who scored the third goal, was praised by both coach and teammates for his play.
  • Sebastian Ohlsson points out that Yalcouyé may soon leave the team, but emphasizes that IFK should receive a record transfer fee for him.

After a half-decent start to the series, IFK Göteborg took three important points against BP, despite the home team lining up scoring chances in the first half.

While the BP players struggled to hit their finishes, Thomas Santos was all the more distinctive. The Dane scored already after five minutes when he pushed off a hard shot that Filip Sidklev in the BP goal did not have time to react to.

Another Dane became Blåvitt’s second goalscorer.

Laurs Skjellerup has had injury problems during his first time at IFK Göteborg, but delivered in his second game from the start. Skjellerup poked in 0-2 from close range after a return in the middle of the second half.

Yalcouyé is celebrated

In the final minutes, the 18-year-old talent Malick Yalcouyé headed in the final score 0-3 on a cross from Thomas Santos.

He was praised by the coaches of both teams after the game.

– Malick takes steps every week. He scores a very nice goal today and has become even more effective in the final third. Then comes the reward, says Blåvitt’s Jens Askou.

– Yalcouyé is the best on the pitch today, says BP’s Andreas Engelmark.

The teammates could only agree. Sebastian Ohlsson was very impressed.

– An extremely fine player. He is difficult on natural grass as well but on artificial grass, where it is difficult to get into the duels, he is impossible to take the ball off. You can enjoy as long as he stays. Because he will probably leave fairly soon, says Ohlsson.

“Otherwise, Ola has done a poor job”

Do you think so?

– Yes, but you have to demand good pay. We must get properly, otherwise there is no point. He has a long contract.

Ohlsson fires up a bit.

– You have to demand really damn good pay for him. Not Blåvitt-paid, but we will charge as the richer teams in the Allsvenskan can do. We shouldn’t float away, but this should in any case be a transfer record for Blåvitt.

IFK Göteborg has sold players for just over SEK 40 million (Marcus Berg and Pontus Dahlberg), but that record should blow the world away, says Olsson.

– Otherwise it’s too bad. Otherwise, Ola Larsson (technical director) has worked too poorly, he says and laughs.

Svensson’s call

Gustav Svensson also pays tribute to his young teammate.

– He is a fantastic player, we have said that for a long time. He takes steps every game, every practice. If he can just put on even more kilos, he will, yes… it’s hard to know where his career will go, but he will have a good career, says Svensson.

Is he the best talent you’ve played with?

– Yes, he is absolutely at the top. What’s funny about him is that he’s so incredibly young and still very malleable, which is fun to watch. He takes in a lot and he listens a lot.

After six Allsvenskan rounds, Blåvitt has seven points and BP has eight.
