Whether professionally in Slack and Microsoft teams or privately in Discord, surveys and suitable “poll bots” are among the most popular tools when it comes to expanding messengers. WhatsApp jumps on the bandwagon comparatively late, as can be seen in the new beta version 22.6.0.70 for Apple iOS. Still, groups can expect a new polling feature, although it’s still in development until an as yet unspecified date.

“Note that polls will only be available in WhatsApp groups and that they are end-to-end encrypted… even your answers! So only people in the group can see the poll and the results,” the bloggers of WABetaInfo to understand. External tools such as Strawpoll, which also allow public polls, need not fundamentally fear for their existence. The iOS and Android beta versions of the last few days have also revealed further changes that Meta (formerly Facebook) is planning for its messenger, which is widespread in Germany.
Among other things, WhatsApp could have a so-called “Community Home” area in the future, which is intended to replace the often little-used camera button. This should be a better overview of all group chats that could possibly be lost in the normal WhatsApp feed. Furthermore, Android users are given the prospect of being able to pause voice messages while they are being created. This function has already been rolled out for iOS and WhatsApp Desktop and is expected soon.
