Twitch cancels TwitchCon Amsterdam due to risks of coronavirus – IT Pro – News

TwitchCon Amsterdam has been canceled. The organizer, game streaming giant and Twitch, sees too many risks with the spread of the corona virus SARS-CoV-2 and therefore does not let the event take place. Everyone who has bought a ticket for the fair will get that amount back.

Amazon subsidiary Twitch announces the decision on his website. The fair was to be held on 2 and 3 May in the Amsterdam RAI. TwitchCon Amsterdam exhibitors are also compensated: they can choose between their money back or priority to exhibit at TwitchCon San Diego, in September, or the next TwitchCon Europe, in 2020.

Twitch calls the decision “incredibly difficult” and says it is “hugely disappointed.” “But the health and safety of our employees, community and everyone involved with TwitchCon is our first priority.”

The TwitchCon trade fair takes place twice a year, once in the US and once in Europe. The fair is dedicated to streaming live games and everything that takes place around it. For example, there are many streamers present, with the opportunity for fans to meet them. More than 28,000 people came to TwitchCon San Diego, the most recent edition.
