Violent Road Rage Incident Leaves One Injured in Astoria, Queens

In an unfortunate incident that reminds us of the dangers that can be found on the streets of New York City, one person was injured and there was much concern among residents of a neighborhood in Astoria, Queens.

According to the police report, the incident occurred after 9 p.m. on Tuesday in the vicinity of 21st Avenue and Steinway Street.

Apparently a scooter suffered a minor collision with a red convertible Mini Cooper car.

After the vehicular incident, a heated exchange of words took place and a passenger emerged from the back seat of the car and shot the driver of the scooter.

The victim was a 28-year-old man, who according to police sources is a food delivery driver for Uber Eats.

Roxana Gómez witnessed the entire incident.

“I was coming around the corner, I saw the argument and when I heard a gunshot I ran away immediately.”

And he talked about the level of danger that was experienced in this neighborhood.

“The person in the car was literally behind the person on the motorcycle shooting everywhere, I heard four shots more or less,” Gómez added.

Gómez said he ran to save his life.

“I just ran, I hid and then everyone came out to see what had happened.”

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The person driving the car was a woman and there was also another woman sitting in the passenger seat.

After shooting the delivery man, the individual returned to the convertible and fled the scene.

The neighbors reacted with great concern when they realized what had happened.

“Very unfortunate, because you know people are working quietly and a crazy person gets out of a car and shoots you, imagine,” said Javier Cóndor.

And he calls for more security.

“Something must be done, the authorities please help us because we are people who come from working at night and find this, it cannot be possible,” Cóndor added.

According to police data, more than 570 incidents of road rage have been recorded so far this year.

And remember that given the increase in incidents of this type in the city, it is better to prevent any type of confrontation.
