Commuters and travelers in Lower Saxony are currently having to adapt to numerous canceled bus and train connections. Many drivers are on vacation, others are sick or in quarantine.
The city of Göttingen is particularly affected. According to a spokeswoman, the Göttingen public transport company currently has a high level of sick leave. Three bus lines will be completely canceled until further notice, while others will only be served to a limited extent. Also the railway company Metronom reports many staff failures – due to Corona. According to the company, around 60 connections were lost on Friday alone. The situation will remain tense in the coming days. The company does not expect the situation to ease until the middle of next week, “since a number of colleagues will return from quarantine,” said a spokeswoman.

Hameln-Pyrmont district: buses are canceled at short notice
According to the North Hessian Transport Association, the Hessian train operator Cantus recently had train cancellations on the route between Kassel and Göttingen. Bus traffic is affected in the Hameln-Pyrmont district. According to a spokeswoman for the local transport company, trips there have recently been canceled at short notice. On some lines, individual departures have now been canceled or the frequency increased. The reason for the failures is exactly the same as elsewhere: vacation, illness or corona quarantine.
