They inaugurate an ecological terrace in a Staten Island building

A new ecological terrace opens its doors on Staten Island and will provide organic products to New Yorkers.

This Tuesday, Mayor Adams was present during the opening ceremony.

Tomatoes and tarragón are just some of the vegetables and fruits that grow on the roof of this new office building.

All proceeds will go to two non-profit restaurants located in the building and two nearby hotels.

The Mayor indicated that with its opening the expansion of the elevated spaces continues, since although there is no more space to plant on land, there are more roofs that can be used.

The 32,000-square-foot deck also absorbs rainwater, which will help reduce flooding in the neighborhood.

The developers received a $670,000 grant from the Department of Environmental Protection to complete the project.

The agency has already invested $14 million in similar projects throughout the city.
