National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters that aid “will be on the way soon to provide Ukraine with new capabilities to improve its air defenses and counter the drone threat to Ukraine.”
According to the Pentagon, the new aid package will give Ukraine new capabilities to improve its air defenses, as well as provide critical equipment that Ukraine uses very effectively to defend itself on the battlefield.
The new package includes additional ammunition for HIMARS high mobility artillery missile systems, 80,000 rounds for 155mm howitzers, anti-drone equipment, anti-aircraft defense, Humvee all-terrain vehicles, medical equipment, 150 power generators and field equipment.
Since February 24, when Russia began its repeated invasion of Ukraine, the United States has already provided Kiev with $19.1 billion in military aid.
As reported, the military budget passed by the US House of Representatives on Thursday calls for at least $800 million in military aid to be allocated to Ukraine next year.
