The UN Human Rights Council is voting to launch an investigation into alleged Russian war crimes in Ukraine

These are crimes allegedly committed at the beginning of the war.

Ukraine has endured “ten weeks of complete horror”, Ukraine’s deputy foreign minister Emine Japarova told the council.

Thousands of corpses have been found in recent weeks north of Kiev, and many of these people have been sentenced to death, according to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michel Bacelet.

The resolution was supported by 33 countries, with 12 abstentions. Only China and Eritrea voted against the resolution tabled by Ukraine.
