Production increased in mining and quarrying by 11.5%, while electricity and gas supply fell by 14.1%. Total industrial output increased by 0.1%.
Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, the increase in production volume was by 12.5% in terms of the share in the largest manufacturing sector – manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork.
The production of chemicals and chemical products continued to show an increase in production in July – by 13.7%, and the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products. With the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic diminishing, in the first month of July, output of machinery, mechanical appliances and machinery increased by 11.9%, furniture by 10.5% and clothing by 9.1%.
In turn, the decline in output continued in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment – by 26.5% and in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (manufacture of motor vehicle parts and accessories, which includes various automotive components) – by 16.8%.
Production also declined in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, in the manufacture of basic metals and in two of the three largest industries by weight: manufacture of food products and manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (by 0.2% and 15.5% respectively).
In July 2020, compared to June 2020, the volume of manufacturing output according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices increased by 4.1%. Production also increased in mining and quarrying – by 0.3%, but decreased – in electricity and gas supply – by 27.1%. Total industrial output decreased by 0.8%.
