The man could no longer live on the beach

The man personally surrendered to law enforcement officials. The cops have been looking for him unsuccessfully all this time.

In Australia, a man named Darko Desich, who escaped from a New South Wales prison about 30 years ago, surrendered to police. He decided to return to prison due to the fact that the coronavirus pandemic has deprived him of his home. It is reported by ABC.

Back in the 90s, Darko Desic was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. He was detained for growing marijuana. However, after serving 13 months behind bars, on the night of August 1, 1992, he escaped. A hacksaw, a bolt cutter and some other tools helped him escape from the prison.

The police never managed to find the fugitive. Some sources claimed that he fled to Sydney’s northern beaches and worked there as a hired construction worker and handyman.

Indeed, Desich lived in a house in Avalon, but, with the advent of the pandemic, he had to leave the house, as he lost his job.

After that, the 64-year-old man slept on the beach, and on the morning of September 12, surrendered to the police in Dee Wye, a suburb of Sydney. Since I could no longer sleep in the open air.

We will remind, earlier, five prisoners with a wrench unscrewed the door locks and escaped from a detention center in the suburbs.
