Only 4 months after a sentence by the Supreme Court of Cassation (SCC) for the robbery of a vault and broken safes of companies, the Pernik bandit Valentin Kirilov-Puikata was arrested during an operation by the capital’s criminalists for an attempt to steal a luxury car.
The 46-year-old recidivist Valjo Puikata is one of the most agile car thieves in our country in the last 25 years. His name is associated with every major attack on bank vaults or stolen expensive cars.
On the night of Monday to Tuesday, Puikata and his accomplice in the car thefts, Voinika, headed to the capital’s “Levski” quarter. There they spotted a luxury Audi S8 to steal. However, the officers from the auto theft department of the Metropolitan Police were following them and on the night of the attack, they surprised them together with the “Cobra” squad. He detains particularly dangerous criminals.

He never went to jail
The time he spent in custody was deducted from his sentence, as well as his time in a Spanish prison in 2016. There he was convicted again for car theft. Thus, the Turkey remained at large until Tuesday night, when he was once again captured by the police.
On January 9, 2013, Valentin Kirilov was declared wanted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. 3 days earlier, a bank was robbed in Kardzhali. His friend Slavcho Megerov-Megera was captured on the spot, and Yavor Vodenov, Huben Mitev and Rosen Dragomirov-Sindbad, another known car thief, were detained later. The turkey is surrendered after a few months. Then the bandits become clients of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office. All except Valjo Puikata pleaded guilty and were sentenced to several months in prison or probation. He pleaded not guilty and the case against him started in 2016.
According to the charges, Kirilov and his accomplices arrived in Kardzhali in several cars. The turkey was driving a BMW X5. Traces of his DNA were found in the car. A month before, their man had investigated everything around the bank’s vault and even rented a bank tape. The masked bandits handcuffed the two guards to the heater. They stole BGN 18,000 and fled.
After everyone was arrested, an investigation began, which showed that Puikata was also involved in the robbery of a company in Pernik in 2006. The unknown burglars broke the windows of the windows, on which traces of Puikata were found, and broke in. They stole only BGN 3,000. Puikata’s friend was working in the workshop at the time. During the trial, his lawyers claimed that he had an argument with his girlfriend at her workplace and hit the glass pane out of anger, but did not take any money.
Puikata was finally convicted of some of the charges, and for the other two the case was returned to the Court of Appeal in Sofia.
