The 2021/22 edition of the Premier League starts with a change in what concerns the game sheet. Instead of the usual seven substitutes, clubs will be able to take nine players to the bench.
An amendment that was unanimously approved by all 20 Premier League clubs. In the remaining professional divisions in England, which have already started this weekend, only seven substitutes are still allowed.
Despite this increase, clubs are still allowed to make only three substitutions, instead of the five allowed in Portugal and Germany, for example. The English emblems also have two extra substitutions to use in cases of cerebral commotion.
