The Milan Prosecutor’s Office this Tuesday requested the arrest and extradition of Robinho, sentenced in January, ultimately in Italy, to nine years and imprisonment, despite Brazil not accepting the extradition of its citizens.
Robinho, who is in Brazil, was convicted by the Supreme Court of Italy after being accused of, along with a friend and others, having raped a 23-year-old girl at a nightclub in Milan in 2013.
The newspaper La Repubblica stresses that Brazil does not allow the extradition of its citizens, but states that the measure could allow the player to be arrested if he decides to leave the country for other destinations.
The request was forwarded to the Brazilian authorities and, with an international detention order, Robinho is under threat of arrest if he leaves the country.
