Two of the main candidates to win the Portuguese Cup, FC Porto and Benfica, qualified for the quarter-finals after beating Alenquer and Benfica, 10-7 (2-4 at half-time), and Valongo, 5-1 (3-0).

FC Porto’s victory at the II Division opponent’s home had exciting contours, as they were trailing by 3-7 with 10 minutes left in the end of regulation time, they scored four goals before drawing and the remaining three in extra time. Under the baton of Carlos Nicolía, who opened the scoring, Pablo Alvarez (2-0 and 4-0), Lucas Ordoñez and Diogo Rafael also scored. Diogo Barata reduced in the last minute.

Also noteworthy was the big victory of SC Tomar at the home of a team from the III Division, CENAP, by 2-13, in a later stage of the Portuguese Cup, the 16th finals.
