Teacher Beheaded for Cartoon of Prophet Muhammad Previously Denounced …

PARIS – The teacher in France who was beheaded 18 years old teenager after showing cartoons Nabi Muhammad in class discussions on freedom of expression have long been the target of assassination. The suspects behind the beheadings have called for a death fatwa against the victim online.

Teacher Samuel Paty, 47, was beheaded on Friday outside his school in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, in the northern suburbs of Paris, by an 18-year-old Chechen man named Abdulakh Abuezidovich Anzorov. The perpetrator was then shot and killed by police.

“They appear to have launched a ‘fatwa’ against teachers,” Darmanin told radio Europe 1, referring to the father of a student and an activist who appeared together to complain about Paty to the principal at the school where the teacher worked.

The student’s fatherposting a video on social media claiming that Paty had shown an image of a naked man and told students it was a “prophet of the Muslims”. He asked other angry parents to contact him and deliver the message. (Also read: Teacher Beheaded, France Will Expel 231 Radical Foreigners)

Earlier this month, as part of a free expression class, Paty had shown her students a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad that angered Muslims around the world when it was published in a satire magazine. Charlie Hebdo. Many Muslims believe the depiction of the Prophet is blasphemous and the cartoon was cited as the motivation behind the attack of two gunmen on the magazine’s offices in 2015.
