Self-isolation will have to be maintained after returning from two more countries

Changes in the list of morbidity indicators of SPKC countries will come into force tomorrow, August 22.

As the incidence of Covid-19 continues to increase in Europe, in the future 14 days of self-isolation in Latvia will have to be observed when returning or transiting through a total of 23 European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) countries, as well as Monaco and Andorra or a total of 25 countries.

These 23 EU or EEA countries include Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Germany, Romania, Spain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Malta, Sweden, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Portugal, Iceland, France, Poland, Croatia, Austria, Cyprus and Denmark, Great Britain, Ireland and Greece.

In total, 2.7 cases per 100,000 population are detected in Latvia, which is the lowest incidence of Covid-19 in Europe from all countries where Covid-19 patients are registered. The only European country where Covid-19 patients are not yet registered is still the Vatican.

Meanwhile, the incidence of Covid-19 continues to rise in the Baltic neighbors, with the fastest growth in Lithuania, where 12.8 cases per 100,000 population are currently detected. In Estonia, on the other hand, the figure has reached 7.8 cases.

The highest incidence rates are in Spain, with 145 cases per 100,000 population, followed by Malta, Andorra, Luxembourg, Romania, Monaco, Belgium, France, Croatia, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland.

Self-isolation will still have to be respected when returning or transiting through Australia, which unites countries to which the EU has opened the bloc’s external borders since 1 July. Among these countries, Canada, Georgia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay are no longer subject to the self-isolation requirement.

Self-isolation is not required for people from countries where the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population does not exceed 16. When calculating the number of cases per 100,000 population, it is possible to objectively compare the figures of different countries, despite differences in the total population, experts say. .

If self-isolation is respected when returning from a country where the cumulative rate per 100 000 inhabitants has previously exceeded but no longer exceeds 16, self-isolation may be terminated.
