Russian Mothers and Wives Protest in Moscow, Calling for Soldier Return from Ukraine – 500 Days Since War Started

Russian mothers and wives of conscripted soldiers protested in Moscow this weekend, Reuters reported.

With red carnations and a call for their men to return from the front in Ukraine, the women laid flowers at the monument to the Unknown Warrior in the Russian capital. So they marked the 500th day since the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The Road Home movement was founded in 2023 by mothers, wives, sisters and daughters of Russian soldiers sent to fight on Ukrainian soil.

The initiative is gaining popularity, which does not please the authorities, especially as the presidential elections approach. During the peaceful demonstration in the Russian capital, over 20 journalists were arrested for covering it. Dozens of women took to the streets of the Russian capital to call on their husbands, fathers, brothers and sons to return from the front. PHOTO: Reuters
