In a conversation with the magazine “Kas Jauns”, Roberto reveals that he is very happy that the people of Latvia have finally had the opportunity to create a program about his native Sardinia: that they are two different places. It would be the same if I told about Latvia and the tourists answered – or how beautiful Lithuania is. ”
“At the end of March, I was sitting on a bus on the way from Beauvais Airport to Paris, when the producer called and told me the good news – Go3 has liked the idea of Sardinia. Initially, we had planned to film in September, but the situation changed, as we offered to film the material in May so that it could be shown to the audience in June. I was asked to choose two Latvians to take with me on the trip. The first thought was fashion artist Elita Patmalniece, because she is one of my idols. She is so natural and talented! I was so happy that she agreed to this trip because I was initially afraid that she would be able to free up time. The other lady was the TV presenter Rūta Dvinska. I didn’t know him personally, but I met him as a great person during the filming. Ruth and Elita are so different, and it was a very good choice, ”says Roberto.

“We started from Castelsardo and continued in my hometown of Ardar, where we arrived during the city festivities. In the show you will see the mountains of Sardinia, the sea and the beaches, the islands and the shepherds. For two weeks we had a very tight filming schedule, as we filmed from eight in the morning until eleven in the evening. We were lucky with the weather. Even if it was raining, as soon as we arrived at the place where we were to film, the rain ended and the sun shone, ”says Roberto about the filming process in Sardinia.
While visiting Ardar, artist Elita Patmalniece and Murano master Salvadore Falki gave up painting. In two hours, Elita painted a painting that the master was excited about. Elita donated this painting to the city of Ardar. “Dear Latvians, if you are in Ardar, be sure to go and see this wonderful painting of Elita, which unites Latvia and Sardinia. Elita revealed that the painting depicts a beautiful Sardinian woman who is similar to my sisters. Mom Binded and sisters Roza and Graciella were very happy about Elita’s beautiful painting. I do not know if the Elite has been awarded the Order of the Three Stars. But I would give her the Order of Five Stars, because she is a real pride of Latvia, ”says Roberto in a conversation with Kas Jauns.
Hears nurses’ complaints
“As in a real Southern family, the relationship between brothers and sisters is not always smooth. It already seems to me that they are similar in Latvia. I have three sisters in total. The elder immediately refused to film, and his brother did not like publicity. The two sisters, Roza and Graciella, are very bright and have always supported my public life and activities. But lately, there has been something wrong with the relationship between the two. They barely talked to each other. Only in special cases related to the mother’s health problems, but this also ended the nurses’ communication. We have a family chat in vacapa, and only over time did I realize that there was a gap in the relationship between the sisters, because the two no longer talked and did not talk to each other. I got weird, trying to find out what happened. I learned that there was a dispute between the two sisters. When I approached them to try to reconcile, they started complaining about each other. Roza complained to Graciella that she was not near her mother when she was ill. Graciella, on the other hand, complained that Roza had been too close to her mother and pampered her too much, even though her mother was a sufficiently independent woman and many things she could do on her own. After talking to both sisters, I realized that the situation is quite delicate. Roza advised me to contact Graciella and resolve the matter, ”says Roberto of the family conflict.
Various master classes were filmed in the program. “I showed you how to prepare different Italian dishes. In one of the master classes, I persuaded my mother and sister Roza to participate and then I also wrote an invitation to Graciella. To which she replied that she was ready to make concessions and come to her mother for the sake of family and peace. That’s what happened, and the two sisters met. At first they shouted at each other, but in a fun way, as the Sardinians and Italians do. Then we also met the film crew and the Elite together. If there was heavy rain in the morning in Ardar, then as soon as the film crew arrived, it stopped raining and the sun came up. And in one beautiful corner of Ardar we filmed, laughed, sang and shouted. We filmed how we make formaggelle, delicious sardine cheesecakes with raisins. These cakes are the national dish of my region. Of course, the sisters converged a bit again, but this time in a good way. One said the dough should be four millimeters thick, the other insisted that it be seven millimeters thick. In the end, everything went so cool that we sang together, ”the singer remembers and adds that her mother is also happy that there is peace and a sincere relationship between all her five children. “Since five fingers are always together in a mother’s hand, all children must always stay together,” he adds.
