Rail – Dresden – construction sites affect the rail traffic – economy from the end of September

Dresden / Erfurt / Magdeburg (dpa) – From the end of September to December, construction sites will affect rail traffic in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. The reason is three construction site sections that the group wants to tackle simultaneously between September 26 and December 12, as Deutsche Bahn announced on Tuesday. It then takes 40 to 60 minutes longer with the ICE between Berlin and Leipzig.

On the Berlin-Halle-Leipzig-Erfurt-Frankfurt am Main route, traffic will be reduced to every two hours and diverted. The travel time will be extended by around 60 minutes, it said. All trains between Berlin and Bitterfeld that approach Halle or Leipzig will be diverted. The continuous two-hour ICE connection Berlin-Leipzig-Frankfurt will be replaced by ICE trains Berlin-Leipzig and Leipzig-Frankfurt.

Because of the diversions, Wittenberg cannot be connected as usual with hourly ICE trains to Berlin and Leipzig and beyond. Instead, more ICE trains, especially those connecting Berlin-Munich, stop in Bitterfeld, and individual ICE / IC trains also stop in Dessau.
