Protesters Rally for Expansion of Fair Fares Program in Manhattan

Demonstrators protest this Monday in Manhattan to call for an expansion of the Fair Fares program.

Also Known As Fair Faresthe program offers a 50% discount on subway and bus fares to low-income New Yorkers who are between 18 and 64 years of age.

However, only those living at or below the federal poverty line can apply for the program.

The protesters will call for the program to be expanded to people earning up to 200% of the federal poverty line and another $60 million in funding for fair rates.

This Monday’s rally is scheduled at the Fulton Center in Lower Manhattan.
