Indian Home Minister Amit Shah claims the Congress party will not pick Sachin Pilot over current Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan due to Gehlot’s higher contribution to the party’s corruption funds. Shah also alleges Gehlot’s government is a hub of corruption and vows the BJP will form the government in Rajasthan with a 2/3 majority in the upcoming elections.

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister of India, has mocked the ongoing internal conflict between the two leaders of the Indian National Congress in Rajasthan — current Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. Speaking in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, Shah claimed that the Congress Party would never choose Pilot over Gehlot as the latter’s contribution to filling the Party’s coffers with corruption money from the state is considered higher. These remarks come amid a fierce leadership tussle between the two leaders that has escalated in recent weeks. Shah further criticized Gehlot for allegedly making the Rajasthan government an “adda” of corruption and looting the state. He also claimed that the Congress government did not present proper evidence in the high court in the Jaipur bomb blast case as it was playing vote bank politics. Shah stated that the BJP will form the government with a two-thirds majority in the upcoming state elections and will win all 25 seats in the Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan. The rivalry between Gehlot and Pilot has persisted since the Congress formed the government in Rajasthan in December 2018 over the post of chief minister. The rivalry is significant as state elections are due later this year.
