Prince Harry has arrived in Britain to spend time in quarantine until his grandfather’s funeral

This is the first time Prince Harry has been visiting the family since March last year, when he and his wife, Megan Mark, officially left the royal family.

Will Megan come to the funeral?

No. The Duke of Sussex will attend his grandfather’s funeral without his wife. Prince Philip passed away last Friday when he was 99 years old. The farewell ceremony will take place in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where Harry and Megan were married less than three years ago.

Buckingham Palace confirms that Prince Harry’s wife Megan has remained in her home in California. The Duchess of Sussex is expecting her second child, and doctors have advised her not to fly so late in her pregnancy.

Does Harry have to comply with quarantine?

Like others arriving in the UK on international flights, Prince Harry must follow the same national travel safety rules for the coronavirus.

People coming to the UK from abroad are currently required to comply with the following rules:

• The Covid-19 test must be passed three days before departure and must be negative;
• Fill in the passenger declaration form, indicating where they will be in the UK;
• 10 days of quarantine and re-administration of Covid-19 tests on days 2 and 8.

There are certain exceptions. If you come to the UK from the common travel area (Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands), you do not need to be quarantined and tested.

Prince Harry does not have to spend 10 days in quarantine at the so-called quarantine hotel, because the United States is no longer on the government’s “red list”, which requires extreme caution.

The British government says people can isolate themselves at home “with friends and family” or in a hotel or other temporary accommodation.

The Duke of Sussex’s representative stated that the prince was staying at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, which is his residence in Great Britain, and that he met all the requirements for a coronavirus.

Will he be able to attend the funeral?

The instructions for the funeral in England, during the “bow down”, state that mourners from abroad may leave the quarantine station “in limited circumstances, including to express sympathy”.

These rules apply to the ‘funeral of a household member, close family member or friend’.

Self-isolation must be maintained throughout the transition and the rules on social distancing must be respected.

The Prince may choose to terminate his 10-day quarantine prematurely under the government’s Test to Release scheme. It provides that people in England can pass a self-paid Covid-19 test on the fifth day of quarantine. If it is negative, the insulation can be stopped. However, if the test is positive, the isolation must be continued for the next ten days.

Prince Philip’s funeral is expected to be attended by only the 30 closest people. This is the maximum number of people allowed at a funeral in England at this time.
