PP-DB Deputy Ivaylo Mirchev Criticizes President Rumen Radev’s New Year Speech

PP-DB deputy Ivaylo Mirchev made sharp criticisms of President Rumen Radev because of his New Year’s speech.

“I read President Radev’s speech last night and I am confused. Instead of a unifier of the nation, he has become a classic four-thousander, like those supporting Russian propaganda and influence in Bulgaria,” the deputy wrote on Facebook and listed highlights from the speech of the head of state.

Rade was the first to shoot at the ruling majority last night, accusing it of corruption, economic insecurity of the country, censorship, turning back the arrows of history, impunity, “destruction of national sovereignty” and denial of dignity. To this, however, Mirchev replies that it was his offices that threatened bankruptcies, developed corrupt practices, and Radev did not help in any way for our acceptance into Schengen.

“In his speech, Radev appealed for unity and leadership. He is the president and he should know that the closest way to achieve unity and leadership is to stop serving Putin’s interests in Bulgaria.
I understand that Radev is hurt that he didn’t get a personal New Year’s card from Putin like Vučić and Orbán have. The reason is that he failed to fully advance Russian interests, and 2023 was a bad year for him in this regard. I hope that Radev will never have the chance with his harmful actions to receive a New Year’s greeting from the Kremlin. One thing is certain – he is the first Bulgarian president who made large groups in society organize actions to turn off the televisions during his speech,” Mirchev also wrote.

In the final days before the New Year, thousands were about to turn off their televisions in defiance of hearing the president’s speech. For this, an event was created on Facebook, in which 20.5 thousand people had registered. And during the speech, some of them posted pictures of how they switched channels to children’s shows.
