Police Crack Down on Glorification of Military Aggression in Estonia: Orders Removal of Russian Inscriptions on Vehicles

The police drew attention to the fact that, taking into account the current geopolitical situation, Russia’s war in Ukraine, as well as the overall context, any glorification of military aggression is not allowed, including placing potentially provocative inscriptions in Russian on vehicles, such as “I am a Russian/a Russian woman”, thus, perhaps glorifying military aggression or expressing support for war crimes committed by the aggressor state in Ukraine.

Therefore, the police, upon finding vehicles covered with such inscriptions, will immediately order the persons to remove them, as well as explain the purpose and motivation of placing such an inscription.

When a violation of the law is established, persons may be held administratively responsible for glorifying military aggression or war crimes.

At the same time, the State Police also invites residents to report if they see vehicles with this type of inscription by calling the police on 110.

Images of a car with the inscription “I am Russian” are posted on social networks. The images caused outrage in the community and law enforcement officers were called to act more actively.

In Estonia, the police stopped such cars and ordered to remove the inscriptions.
