Geny Catamo, 22, signed a professional contract with Sporting in September 2020 after spending the 2019/2020 season at the Academy on loan from Amora, from Liga 3, and is now preparing to renew his contract with the lions , changing almost all of its main items, from duration to salary and, perhaps, the value of the termination clause, for now at the €45M threshold.
This will be a step taken by Sporting’s SAD administration after the definitive purchase of 75 percent of the player’s pass that is still in Amora’s possession, in an operation that will cost 600 thousand euros – subsequently, the Amorenses will have to deliver 80 percent of this funds (510,000 euros) to the Black Bulls Academy, in Mozambique, where the player completed the final stretch of his training, after having emerged in the popular Maxaquene, where he was known as Messi.
The owner of the Black Bulls academy, Juneide Lalgy, in statements to A BOLA, harshly criticized the way in which this agreement between Sporting and Amora was drawn up, adding that it was clearly «inclined towards one of the grantors».
However, the definitive purchase of the pass for the lions’ revelation player so far, which will have to happen by the end of September, has nothing to do with the renewal, a process that will be led by Promosport, the company that entered the field after Geny went to Sporting and which in Portugal is led by FIFA agents André Carriço and João Gonçalves.
Order, direction and clause
But, returning to the renewal dossier, Catamo will see his salary substantially increased, he who, despite the delivery of performance bonuses for a batch of matches played in a minimum of 45 minutes, is one of the lowest paid in the squad led by Rúben Amorim.
The release clause, taking into account that it is a pure winger adapted to the right wing, should also rise from the current €45 M to €60 M, similar to what happens on the left flank, in the case of Nuno Santos – following the leonine policy of placing higher termination clauses on footballers who perform more offensive tasks, with the exception, taking into account the qualitative levels displayed, Diomande, who has an indemnity clause of €80M, he who cost the SAD coffers €7, 5M, to which you can add another €5M in bonuses.
After loans to V. Guimarães and Marítimo, Geny Catamo is a strong bet this year for Rúben Amorim, so the extension of his bond, for now only valid until 2025, should also be increased.
