The resigned Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodora Genchovska has surprisingly fired the head of the State Protocol Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Boryana Simeonova, 24 Chasa has learned.
Today was the last working day of the chief of protocol. Genchovska’s decision was made last week, but was kept secret until the last minute by the fired Simeonova. She received only two days’ notice from the ministry’s permanent secretary.
There were problems between the fired head of the protocol and Genchovska, as the minister even refused to communicate directly with Simeonova. Instead, the instructions were passed on through the secretary.
“State Protocol” is one of the most important directorates of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through which all official diplomatic contacts pass, including the organization of visits of Bulgarian statesmen abroad and the visits of foreigners to Bulgaria.
Boryana Simeonova is one of the best specialists in protocol and a professional diplomat. She headed the Government Protocol Directorate in the governments of Ivan Kostov, Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Sergei Stanishev and Boyko Borissov. From 2012 to 2019 he held the post of Bulgarian Ambassador to Morocco.
