FAN Courier warns customers about an attempted fraud through SMS messages – Companies

FAN Courier warns customers about a new attempt to defraud personal data through SMS messages. The company recommends to all those who receive such messages and have an ongoing order by courier not to comply with the request received, not to access the link at the end of the received message and to notify the police. The warning comes after a new method of personal data fraud appeared, via SMS, which involves transactions carried out through the OLX platform.

“When we have an order in progress, our customers receive an SMS message on their mobile phone indicating the status of the order, the date and time when we will make the delivery. Recently, we received information about a new method of personal data fraud, via SMS, which involves transactions conducted through the OLX platform.

Specifically, fraudsters send a message via mobile phone similar to our information messages and ask customers to access a link to receive the money. We draw everyone’s attention that any attempt to request bank details via a link is an attempt at fraud. When selling a product, the customer receives the money only through the courier company, the payment being made only a refund upon receipt of the shipment. FAN Courier does not have any system through which buyers can pay online, the only way to pay by card is through POS at FAN Courier offices “, says Daniela Catrinoiu, Chief Information Officer of FAN Courier.

According to FAN Courier’s Cyber Security team, the company is working with the relevant institutions to limit the risks of these cyber attacks and will provide the investigative bodies with all the information necessary to eliminate the risk of fraud through SMS messages.

FAN Courier recommends that customers who receive such a message contact the buyer and / or the OLX platform, for an additional check of the status of the order.

“It is imperative to pay close attention to any request that requires you to enter personal data or bank card details on a website. Make sure you browse the actual company page and not a fake site. Remember that when you are going to receive money in someone’s account, you are only asked for the bank code and the amount you want to receive from the person who will make the transfer “, also draw the attention of the specialists from the Cybersecurity team within FAN Courier.
Throughout the year, the company sent a set of recommendations to limit the risk of cyber attack on its customers, individuals and legal entities, via e-mail.
