As of this Friday, the Salvadoran Government has enabled a digital vaccination card for Salvadorans traveling to countries of the European Union (EU).
According to the Minister of Health, Francisco Alabi, the certification can be downloaded in Portable Document Format, known as PDF, or in QR code.
“There is already a digital vaccination certificate for all salvadorans that has been endorsed by the European Union, this code or this digital vaccination card allows all salvadorans to be able to use it throughout all the countries that make up the European Union, to be able to have circulation without inconvenience”.

Alabi added that the certification can be validated offline, through the EU applications.
The vaccination card can be downloaded from the website: certificado.covid19.gob.sv as explained by the undersecretary of the Secretariat for Innovation, Fabricio Mena.
“So that salvadorans can obtain their certificate is easy and simple, we developed a user-friendly platform…the process is completely simple and people only have to enter the Unique Identity Document and their date of birth; and automatically there The information on the vaccines that have been applied to the citizen will be displayed and there they will be able to download the certificate.

He added that the vaccination certificate will have an electronic signature from the Ministry of Health that will guarantee its authenticity.
In addition, he assured that the certificate will be safe, since the information will be encrypted and cannot be falsified.
“That vaccination certificate is validated in tAll immigration applications that the European Union available and also in all the applications that the European Union has launched for the different issues of the certificates”, assured the Undersecretary for Innovation.
The authorities said that the certificate is available from this Friday. for Salvadorans over 18 years of age, minors, residents, who have been vaccinated against covid-19 in El Salvador; however, they stated that the vaccination certificate has already been downloaded by more than 10,000 people, according to the authorities.
What vaccines does Europe accept?
In December 2021, The EU recognized the equivalence of the Salvadoran anticovid vaccination certificate as a guarantee that they are people vaccinated against the disease.
Diario El Mundo sought to consult with the Minister of Health, Francisco Alabí, if the digital certification endorsed by the EU accepts any vaccine applied in the country, but officials from the Press Secretariat of the Presidency denied the opportunity to ask.
The EU press unit responded to this question and explained to this newspaper that indeed, with the presentation of this certificate, Salvadorans can travel to any European country, regardless of the brand of vaccine received.
