Dufry: Q1 sales strongly impacted by the virus

Dufry announces a sharp drop in sales in the first quarter, a clear sign that its business environment has been hampered by travel restrictions in place due to the coronavirus.

The Swiss tour operator said that its sales in the first three months of 2020 reached 1.4 billion Swiss francs, down -23.6% compared to 1.9 billion Swiss francs in the same period of 2019.

Sales fell organically by -21.4%. In April alone, sales plummeted 94.1% in the space of a year.

In his press release, Dufry said he was “well prepared” to face a difficult year. This did not prevent the shares from falling -5.7% Zurich Tuesday morning.
