Of the passengers served at the airport in the first four months of 2020, 1.25 million passengers were served on international flights, but 3405 passengers were served on domestic flights, while in April 3040 passengers were served on international flights, while three passengers were served on domestic flights.

The most popular destinations this year were Moscow (10.4%), London (8.6%), Oslo (4.4%), Helsinki (4.3%), Berlin (3.7%), Tallinn (3.6%). ), Stockholm (3.5%), Frankfurt (3.2%), Kiev (3.1%) and Vilnius (2.9%).

In the first four months of 2020, Riga Airport handled 16,618 flights, which is 34.8% less than in the corresponding period last year, including 338 flights handled in April, which is 95.4% less than in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Also, in the first four months of this year, the airport handled 6690 tons of cargo, which is 22.9% less than a year earlier, including in April – 1069 tons, which is a decrease of 49.6% compared to the corresponding month of 2019.

Last year, Riga Airport served a total of 7.798 million passengers, which is 10.5% more than in 2018.

This year, taking into account the restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, the airport forecasts a decrease in the number of passengers served to 1.6 million, but next year the number of passengers served could reach 4.6 million.

It has already been reported that an emergency situation has been declared in Latvia since March 13 in connection with the spread of the Covid-19 virus, during which time a number of restrictions have been set. This includes the abolition of international passenger transport through airports since 17 March.
