Dozens of women who took part in the protest march against the Lukashenko regime have been detained

At least 70 people have been detained, according to the Belarusian human rights center Vyasna (Spring).

Reporters from the scene reported that the arrests were often violent.

Journalists of the TV channel “Belsat” Katerina Andrejeva and Makss Kalitobskis were also detained, for whom administrative violation protocols were drawn up for violating the media law and disobeying the militia.

The court, scheduled for Tuesday, they will wait in the isolator on Okrestina Street.

The protesters walked around the city center, chanting the slogans “Where is our Masha?” and “We are all Masha”, thus expressing support for the detained member of the Opposition Coordination Council, Maria Kolesnikova.

Onliner.by reported that the number of participants in the women’s march was about 5,000, while the portal “Tut.by” reported that it was about 10,000.

A minor protest on Saturday also took place elsewhere in Minsk and Belarus.

Meanwhile, Kolesnikov was transferred from an investigative isolator on Minsk’s Volodarska Street to an isolator in Žodina, about 50 kilometers northeast of the capital, on Saturday, said Kolesnikov’s lawyer Ludmila Kazaka. Kolesnikov was abducted on the street in Minsk on Monday but detained on Tuesday for resisting an attempt by the authorities to get her to leave for Ukraine. She has been granted the status of a suspect for public calls for the seizure of state power or a violent change in the constitutional system of Belarus.

The Coordinating Council has stated that, although almost all members of its Bureau have either been detained or forced to leave the country, a new Bureau will not be elected, as the Rules of Procedure allow decisions to be taken by the core composition.

“According to the amendments to the rules of procedure adopted on 6 September, when the members of the president are unable to take decisions, they are taken by a simple majority in the board.

It has already been reported that an ambitious protest march against the Lukashenko regime is planned for Minsk on Sunday. Such marches have also taken place on several previous Sundays. This time the procession is called “Heroes’ March” and is dedicated to Kolesnikova.
