Others 19 Valencians have died with coronavirus in Valencia, Alicante or Castelló in the last 24 hours -two of them elderly in nursing homes- as they could not overcome the effects of covid-19, the severe pneumonia caused by infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. With these new deaths 1,244 people have already lost their lives since the coronavirus pandemic in the Valencian Community at the end of February (186 registered in the province of Castelló, 443 in that of Alicante and 615 in that of Valencia). Yesterday there were also 19 deceased and 158 new infections in Valencian territory.

More than two months later deaths continue to be added but the number of people cured continues to gain ground. Thus, from Tuesday to Wednesday afternoon 287 others were discharged with which there are already 6,886 cured, 57.1% with respect to the total positives that now stands at 12,058 after the 242 new cases registered In that same period, 95 of them through the PCR test, that is, the one that finds the active virus in the body and not the antibodies that have been generated.
Of all the active cases, 3,928, 674 are hospitalized, 42 less than yesterday, which represents 17% of the total active cases. In the ICU 127 patients remain (12 in the province of Castelló, 50 in that of Alicante and 65 in the ICU of Valencia). They are 8 less than yesterday and 3% of all cases. In recent days these parameters – one of the most important for experts when it comes to following the advance of the pandemic – have fallen by half in the Valencian Community. Since the pandemic began, 5.5% of all positive cases have required admission to the ICU (663 people).
These are the balance figures of the pandemic that the Ministry of Health has made public this morning through a statement since the Councilor Ana Barceló intervenes this morning in the General Commission of the Autonomous Communities of the Senate, in which the debate on the management of the crisis caused by the coronavirus.
As every day, Health has also updated the number of virus detection tests that have been done so far: 149,398 (111,690 through PCR and 37,708 through rapid tests). Of all of them, 119,625 (88,240 with PCR and 31,385 by rapid tests) have given a negative result.
Coronavirus in nursing homes
With these twelve new registered deaths of institutionalized elderly, the resident people who have passed away are already 462 and the total number of positives in this group is 1,979.
On the other hand, there are currently 81 nursing homes that register a positive case of coronavirus: 14 in the province of Castellón, 17 in that of Alicante and 50 in the province of Valencia.
