Corona situation, January 10, 2021: Almost 22,000 vaccinations against Corona in Saxony-Anhalt

Almost 22,000 people in Saxony-Anhalt have already been vaccinated against the corona virus. This is evident from figures that the Ministry of Social Affairs announced on Sunday. One percent of the population in Saxony-Anhalt has now received the first vaccination. In a nationwide comparison, Saxony-Anhalt is making good progress with vaccinations. On Saturday, the state had the third highest vaccination rate after Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein.

However, full vaccination protection is only available after the second vaccination dose, which is given at least three weeks after the first vaccination. The current vaccination quota does not yet say how many people have complete vaccination protection.

The first vaccination centers in Saxony-Anhalt will open on Monday, where people over the age of 80 can be vaccinated. According to research by MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT, the dates have already been taken. Since the vaccine is still in short supply and it is initially needed in old people’s homes, some rural districts and urban cities open their vaccination centers a few days later.

As of Sunday noon, 8,159 people in Saxony-Anhalt are actively infected with the corona virus. 205 intensive care beds are occupied by a Covid 19 patient, of which 117 are ventilated. So far, 890 people in Saxony-Anhalt have died from or with the virus.
