The Thuringian Ministry of the Interior supports municipalities “in enforcing the pandemic-related regulations to minimize contact”. The country is reacting to the complaints from several places and regions that they were visited by numerous day trippers during the holidays at Christmas and at the turn of the year and that they could hardly control and enforce compliance with distance rules et cetera.

Gatherings
If the incidence value of 300 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants on five days within a seven-day week is exceeded in a district or a district-free city, the number of participants in meetings is limited to 25 people. This involves assemblies that, according to Article 8 of the Basic Law and Article 10 of the Thuringian Constitution (keyword: every citizen has the right to assemble peacefully and unarmed with others) are approved upon request. In general, meetings are prohibited according to the ordinance.

retail trade
Analogous to the regulations already in place for the book trade, all other retail stores, including hardware stores, are given the opportunity to sell their goods by picking up pre-ordered goods with contactless payment.

Kindergarten and school
Kindergartens and schools will be closed until January 31, 2021. On February 1st, restricted operation according to phase yellow of the Stage concept resumed. The concept for the yellow phase envisages that schools can take individual measures in the event of a corona infection of students or teachers, including switching between classroom and home teaching.

The winter holidays at the schools are brought forward to the last week of January. In addition, the compulsory attendance in the second week of February will be suspended.

Emergency care is offered in kindergartens and schools up to grade 6 for children whose parents cannot work in the home office and who are essential personnel in pandemic defense and management. This offer also applies to parents who work in areas of considerable public interest (health care, care, education, upbringing, ensuring public safety and order or public administration, ensuring public infrastructure and security of supply, information technology and telecommunications, media, transport and Transport, banking and finance, nutrition, everyday goods).

The exams scheduled for January will take place in the schools. Schoolchildren in the final grades of all types of schools complete the necessary preparatory courses in face-to-face classes in their schools.
