The number of registered new corona infections has increased by 196 cases in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since Wednesday (as of Thursday, 4:56 p.m.). Overall, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LAGuS) 27,483 infections reported in the country since March 2020. According to an estimate by the Robert-Koch-Institut (RKI) In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 24,483 (+192) of the people who tested positive have recovered from Covid 19 disease. The number of deaths in the northeast is 823 (+6). According to the LAGuS, 184,741 vaccine doses have been administered in the northeast (as of March 18). Accordingly, 124,477 people received a first vaccination (vaccination rate 7.74 percent), and 60,264 the second (vaccination rate 3.75 percent).

Nationwide, the incidence value rose slightly within a week from 63.7 to 63.8 infections per 100,000 inhabitants compared to the previous day. However, it is still well below the national average (90.0). In the district of Northwest Mecklenburg the seven-day incidence value is now 83.9, in the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim it is 89.2. The district of Vorpommern-Greifswald has an incidence value of 80.6. The LAGuS reports a value of 84.7 for Schwerin, 74.6 for the Rostock district and 48.4 for the Mecklenburg Lake District. In the district of Vorpommern-Rügen the authorities register an incidence of 44.5 and in the Hanseatic city of Rostock of 22.9.
Currently 226 people with Covid-19 in the hospital
According to the latest figures from the LAGuS and the Ministry of Health, 226 (-10) people across the country are currently being treated in a hospital for Covid 19, 55 (+5) of them are in intensive care. According to the intensive care register, 28 (+1) Covid-19 patients are ventilated invasively. The register shows 529 occupied and 99 vacant intensive care beds for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (as of Thursday 2:19 p.m.).

46 new infections in the Rostock district
According to the LAGuS, most of the infected were or are in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald with 6,457 (+45) infections so far. In the Mecklenburg Lake District there are a total of 5,672 (+34) cases. So far there have been 4,282 (+29) infections in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district. 2,649 (+33) infections were reported in the Rostock district. In the district of Northwest Mecklenburg, the authorities registered 2,507 (+15) people who were verifiably infected with the corona virus. The LAGuS reports 2,389 (+15) cases for the district of Vorpommern-Rügen. The state capital Schwerin continues to have the lowest total numbers with 1,869 (+12) and the Hanseatic city of Rostock with 1,658 (+13) cases.
26 active infection events in geriatric care facilities
The LAGuS also publishes figures on the situation in old people’s homes as well as in schools and daycare centers. Accordingly, as of Wednesday there are active infection events in 26 (+/- 0) geriatric care facilities. 181 (+12) residents and 76 (+3) employees are affected. There are also active infection events at 25 (+2) daycare centers and after-school care centers. 40 children (+/- 0) and 32 educators and employees (-5) are affected. There are also active infection events at 24 (+6) schools. Eight (-1) teachers or employees and 24 (+7) students are affected.

The LAGuS’s daily corona statistics only include people who have their primary residence in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The LAGuS also publishes regular reports on infections among guests. These are all those people who have been found to be infected in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, but who do not have a primary residence in the state.
