Ulysses has been selling his crafts in Union Square for two years.
“We work with stones, macrame, precious stones, all handmade, artisanal,” explained Ulysses.
Today, however, Ulises is obliged to put his post outside the square, in the surrounding streets, and he says that it is no longer the same.
“There we had a lot of visibility, they saw us, and people were used to it, not here, no one can see here,” added Ulysses.
Ulysses and his fellow artisans have received a transfer order from the Parks department.
The order indicates that on the days that the farmers market is in the square … they cannot be there. But the spaces are limited and the street vendors many. They can only be located where there is a medallion mark on the floor.
“They are not respecting our space, our artist space … people are already used to seeing the joy, the colors, the works, the paintings, all very beautiful and they take us out of there and scatter us a little here and there. a little over there, “Ulysses said.
Kelly has been a lifelong artisan and has been selling here for over three years. Just a few weeks after moving his position to the street, he is already noticing the drop in sales.
