BOLA – Pedro Proença meets with António Costa and businessmen (Liga)

Pedro Proença, president of the League, met this morning with the Prime Minister António Costa and associates of the Business Confederation of Portugal (CIP) – the president of the League is an integral member of the Strategic Council of the CIP – in a meeting convened by the secretary-general of the Socialist Party within the framework of the present electoral campaign for the legislative of 30 January.

The purpose of the meeting was to present to the members of the CIP (Confederação Empresarial de Portugal) proposals on Social Conciliation and Economic Growth, although Pedro Proença, in anticipation of the current electoral moment, had already written to party leaders candidates for the legislative with the aim of reinforcing the core themes of Professional Football in the current cycle, from 2021 to 2023.

According to a communication from the League, it can be read that in the letter “sent to party officials, [Pedro Proença] reinforced Professional Football’s commitment to contributing to strategic reflection and the definition of concrete action plans for Football, an industry with significant weight in the national economy.”

Among the topics considered a priority by the League, requesting analysis from the political power are: work accident insurance; centralization of audiovisual rights; creation of new commercial properties; reformulation of the tax framework – VAT; sports betting; remodeling of competitive frameworks; reformulation of the tax framework – IRC and IRS; recognition of dual guardianship; Liga Portugal’s self-financing model; promotion of new investment in Sports Societies; and reinforcing the weight of sport in the government structure.

The League expressed its commitment “to contribute to strategic reflection and the definition of concrete action plans for the industry that has such an impact on the national economy” and recalled that the relationship between the organization and the main political leaders “has always been guided by mutual respect. and joint work, and Liga Portugal is strongly convinced that this will continue with the new parliament, whose challenges will be enormous, with the still pandemic resulting from COVID-19 guiding many of the options and political actions».
