“Benfica B Secures Permanence with 2-1 Victory over Feirense in Liga 2 Match”

Benfica B beat Feirense (2-1), in a match for the 32nd and antepenultimate round of Liga 2, held earlier this Saturday afternoon, at the Marcolino de Castro Stadium, in Santa Maria da Feira.

The triumph of the young eagles is synonymous with guaranteed permanence in the second tier of Portuguese football next season.

The first goal for Luís Castro’s men came in the 27th minute, with Martim Neto shooting with a hangover, at the edge of the area, for the first goal of the afternoon.

Just two minutes later, Gilson Benchimol asked for Henrique Pereira, on the left flank, with the winger leaving Simão Júnior behind and shooting a cross for the reds’ second goal.

The fogaceiros reacted immediately and, in the 31st minute, André Rodrigues gave the best follow-up to a cross from the right by João Oliveira and reduced the disadvantage for the team coached by Rui Ferreira.

In the second half, and despite the various danger situations created by both teams, the truth is that the scoreboard has not changed any more, and, in this way, the young eagles added three important points in their journey.

In the next round, Feirense will travel to Académico de Viseu (Saturday, at 2 pm), while Benfica B will host Farense (Friday, at 6 pm).
