According to Zemītis, Samanta Tīna is an appropriate choice for the Eurovision stage

He emphasized that Samantha Tina was bright and convincing, so the musician expressed hope that she would be the right choice for the Eurovision stage.

Zemītis expressed his joy that this time only the people could vote in “Supernova”, thus the vote reflected what people themselves want to see on the big stage in the competition.

The musician also noted that Samantha Tina “hit with her brightness”. “We already know that Eurovision needs brightness that captures, creates madness and creates a show,” he said.

Zemītis reminded that Eurovision needs a singer who can control his voice. According to him, Samantina Tina has a strong vocal experience, which will ensure that she will not be embarrassed when entering the Eurovision stage.

At the same time, the musician revealed that this year there were several performances that remained in his memory, such as Katrīna Dimanta’s performance of the song “Heart Beat” and “Anna” with the song “Polyester”.

“I think we have chosen and will see if we are winners from the notions of Europe,” said the musician.

Asked how to evaluate the new “Supernova” format, when only the final is broadcast on television and international members of the jury express their opinion in it, Zemītis answered that it is appreciated, because it helps to evaluate the tender applicants more objectively.

However, Zemītis reminded that “Eurovision” is not an Olympic Games, so it should always be remembered that it is important that after this competition the participant has the opportunity to develop his career. “There have been cases when the audience loves exactly those who have not qualified for the finals. In turn, some good ones have been in the finals, but their careers have failed,” Zemītis explained.

LETA has already reported that at the 65th International Eurovision Song Contest in May in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Latvia will be represented this year by Samantha Tina with the song “Still Breathing”, which won the “Supernova 2020” competition on Saturday evening.

This performance overtook the other pre-selected finalists of the competition, leaving Katrīna Diamond with the song “Heart Beats” in the second place, and the musician “Annna” with the song “Polyester” in the third place.

Mick Dukur with the song “I’m Falling For You”, the band “Bad Habits” with the song “Sail With You”, Seleste with the song “Like Me”, Edgars Kreilis with the song “Tridymite” also fought for a ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam , Katrīna Bindere with the song “I Will Break Your Heart” and singer “Driksna” with the song “Stay”.

This year, the winner of the competition was completely determined by the audience vote. From one phone number per participant, it was allowed to vote only once or one call and one text message from one number when calling and sending a text message. On the other hand, when voting on the Internet, one participant could vote no more than five times from one IP address.

The final performances were also watched live on television by a jury consisting of Mārja Merivo-Parro, editor-in-chief of the new Estonian alternative music station Raadio 2, member of the Lithuanian national selection jury, LRT show director Gerūta Griniūte, Universal Music Group Baltic region manager Petri Mannonen from Finland, as well as local producer and musician of Radio SWH programs Artis Dvarionas.

Before the Supernova 2020 final, Betsafe bookmakers said it had been difficult to highlight the leaders this year. Dukur, Diamond, the group “Bad Habits” and Tina were considered the main favorites among the nine finalists. Betsafe bookmakers have also mentioned that the song chosen by Latvia has not reached the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in the last three years, assuming that it will not happen this time either.

The winner of the “Supernova 2020” competition has the opportunity to perform at the 65th International Eurovision Song Contest – the world’s largest live television show, which was watched by 182 million viewers in Europe and the world last year.

A total of 126 songs were entered for the sixth season of “Supernova 2020”, however, after the first round, the jury has nominated only 28 of them for further participation in the competition. In turn, 26 songs competed for the place in the finals of the Latvian Television authors ‘and performers’ competition “Supernova”, of which nine were selected by an international jury.

The 41st Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in May, will be attended by 41 Member States.
