The Women’s National Football Team was defeated last night by its US counterpart, world champion in title, in a private meeting played in Houston.
The lone goal of the match was scored in the 76th minute, by Samantha Mewis, headed, following a corner from the left by Christen Press.
Portugal presented: Inês Pereira, Catarina Amado, Sílvia Rebelo, Carole Costa, Joana Marchão (Alícia Correia, 90+1′), Dolores Silva, Tatiana Pinto (Andreia Faria, 90+1′), Andreia Norton, Jéssica Silva (Telma, 82′), Diana Silva (Mélissa Gomes, 90+1′) and Kika Nazareth (Fátima Pinto, 63′).
Francisco Neto’s team will continue in the United States, with a new preparation game scheduled for Sunday, against Nigeria.
