The Algarve Stadium witnessed another turning of the page in the history of football on Saturday, with Ronaldo having registered the highest number of appearances by a European footballer in the respective national team at 181, beating one of his former Real Madrid teammates: Sergio Ramos counted 180 calls to the Spain team.
Now Cristiano Ronaldo will set out to conquer the world, without a doubt his next challenge – such as overcoming Ali Daei (Iran, 109 goals) with the highest number of goals for a national team and which he also achieved last month, elevating yesterday the count to 112!
He will have to pass four players, virtually unknown, but who will gain greater notoriety whenever the Manchester United striker overtakes each of them to reach first, place currently owned by the retired Soh Chin Ann (Malaysia), who has 191 caps.
They are followed by Bader Al Mutawa (Kuwait, 36), aged 186; Ahmed Hassan (Retired, Egypt), with 184; and Ahmed Kano (Oman, 36 years old), aged 182.
