Rodrigo Fernandes published, this Wednesday, a farewell message on social networks. The 20-year-old midfielder, who did the pre-season with Sporting’s main team, was enrolled as a FC Porto reinforcement in the last list at the end of the transfer market.
«Sporting, the farewell day arrived, it was since I was 8 years old at Polo EUL that I started to take my first steps… 12 years in a house where I learned a lot not only as a player but also as a person and was the main reason I became the man I am today. It is difficult to express in words the gratitude I have for this club, this club that welcomed me and gave me everything, where I had the best moments of my life. I leave today for a new challenge and thanks to this club I feel much more prepared. I would also like to thank all the coaches, managers, equipment technicians, medical department, academy staff, teammates and all those who were present in my personal and professional development. I lived unique and memorable moments in my life, where I signed my first professional contract and where I fulfilled my childhood dream of debuting as a professional player. It should be remembered that Rodrigo Fernandes completed practically his entire career at Sporting (except for a spell at Real SC, in 2015). His debut in the first team took place in 2019, having played four matches. Assiduous presence in the secondary set, played 24 matches last season for the B.
