a vaccinated in the Empire State

Three hours after the blitzkrieg center opened in the iconic Empire State Building, fewer than a dozen people had been immunized, according to sources with the organization that administers the doses.

One of those vaccinated was Diego Gamboa, 33, who came from Colombia just for a week to take advantage of the opportunity to be immunized.

“It seems great to me because in my country they do not do it, they are still in the 50-year-old groups, because I was going to play there super far,” said Gamboa.

“Well, I came here sponsored by the company to get the vaccine, it seems super cool,” added Gamboa.

By Friday morning, the first of the three days they will be vaccinated, very few people had shown up to get one of the 100 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine on the list.

Some New Yorkers think that if residents do not want to be vaccinated the best option is to immunize tourists.

“The incentives are there but there are people who do not want to, you have to respect that too … that inspires those who come from abroad to also visit the city, it seems to me that it is a good alternative for those who come from elsewhere,” he said. Miguel León, who has already been vaccinated.

And it is that despite the different incentives, some still do not decide to get the vaccine.

Here in the Empire State for that matter, they will give free tickets to visit the viewpoint to the first twenty vaccinated.

The goal in opening this and other vaccination sites and providing incentives is to reach 70 percent of vaccinated statewide. When that happens, the restrictions of distancing, extreme cleanliness and maximum capacity will be removed.

Members of the community organization Somos administer the doses here on the Empire State site.

“Those who pass by here, which is a tourist place, can go home today with their vaccination and thus achieve that this vaccinated community increases and that we are all protected and we can rejoin normal life,” said Dr. Ramón Tallaj Jr, from Somos.

Here they will continue to immunize until Sunday from 7:30 to 11:30 in the morning.

The organizers say it is a quick and easy process.
