20 minutes – Microsoft combines its Office apps into one

Tested in preview since last November, the new Microsoft Office application was made available Tuesday free of charge for all users of the Android mobile system. This all-in-one app combines Word, Excel and PowerPoint in a single application.

Until now, Microsoft has offered its three flagship services separately on Android. This unification makes it possible to reduce the size of the application and to group the tools offered by Office in a single place. The user will be able to create and modify Office documents and collaborate with other users, without having to open several different apps. The service also includes several additional functionalities, such as the possibility of scanning a document with Office Lens, extracting text with an OCR function and transforming it into an editable file, creating and signing PDFs, etc.

The iOS version is not currently available to the general public, but is being tested with a number of users.
