20 minutes – TPG lines reinforced from April 27

With the gradual resumption announced of economic activities, the supply of public transport will increase, after several weeks of restricted operation. As of Monday, April 27, TPG will carry out a first reinforcement of the current offer, taking into account our observations and customer requests, indicates Franois Mutter, spokesperson for the Geneva company.

Several lines will for example see their frequency double certain hours. This will be the case for the tram line 17 (Lancy-Pont-Rouge-Gare – Annemasse) from 6h 19h, the tram line 18 (Lancy-Bachet-Gare- CERN) between 6h and 10h, or even lines of bus 11 (Bout-du-Monde – Jardin Botanique) and 22 (ZIPLO-Nations) between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The increase in supply across the network is expected from May 11. However, the volume of this increase still needs to be specified: We are currently examining in close connection with the Cantonal Transport Office of the State of Geneva and ORCA Geneva (note: the cantonal crisis mechanism) different possibilities for Monday, May 11 , reports Franois Mutter. This will include ensuring the resumption of school races and achieving an increase in supply after two consecutive declines. We work to support the recovery of the economy and ensure the requirements put from a health point of view.

As a reminder, TPG had reduced their services for the first time on March 23, with a 40% drop in supply. From April 1 to May 10, the network operates according to the Sunday schedule, a reduction of almost 50% of the offer, with occasional reinforcement during peak hours.

Protective measures examination

As for additional protective measures in vehicles, these are being examined, continues Franois Mutter. The Federal Office of Transport and the SBB are to work out a protection concept for public transport by the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication by next week. made available to transport companies. Like all public transport companies in Switzerland, we will be called upon to adopt and adapt this concept.
