1656 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in Lithuania; six people died

This is the highest number of new infections detected in a single day in Lithuania since the beginning of the Covid-19 epidemic. The highest number of infected persons – 1001 – was recorded on October 31.

A total of 20,747 people have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus in the country, and recovery has been confirmed for 5,454 people.

15,489 analyzes were performed last day, thus 10.7% of tests were positive. A total of 1,080,306 analyzes were performed in Lithuania.

The disease caused by the virus Covid-19 claimed the lives of a total of 192 people in Lithuania, but the cause of death of another 67 infected with this virus was different.

Six people in the age group of 70 to 99 died during the day; everyone has had a chronic illness.

Lithuanian hospitals are currently treating 785 Covid-19 patients, 64 of whom are in resuscitation wards, 35 patients require artificial lung ventilation, and 389 people use oxygen masks, according to the Ministry of Health.

Out of almost 17,300 beds in hospitals, more than 9,600 were occupied, out of 661 beds in resuscitation wards, 364 were occupied, out of 611 beds with the possibility of artificial lung ventilation – 211, out of 6,400 beds with oxygen supply – about 2,000.

According to the National Center for Public Health, test results are now collected automatically, but the analysis of infection conditions has so far been limited to less than three-quarters of new cases, as the system shows the declared residences of infected people but does not know if they are infected in the county.

For 301 cases already analyzed, the conditions for infection could not be determined.

In nine out of ten Lithuanian counties, new cases have been detected in medical and social care institutions. The virus also continues to spread in schools and kindergartens, government agencies, businesses, the Armed Forces and the police. Infection has also occurred in choir rehearsals and in families.
